If not, we’ll be more than happy to order the specific lens type in your prescription that will best suit your visual and lifestyle needs.
Most of the lenses that we offer will come with high quality anti-reflective and anti-scratch coatings for your luxury and convenience. Of course, additional lens treatments such as computer lenses/blue light filters and photochromic transition lenses are always available and may be recommended to you by our trained professionals.

Saigon Optical was founded on Spadina Avenue by Sam Pham — a single independent store that grew into three flourishing Toronto locations. Today, his son Dr. Arthur Pham leads our team of optometrists, bringing board-certified clinical expertise and a deeply personal investment in this city’s eye health.
Many of our patients have been coming to us for decades — from the same neighbourhoods, the same families. We know Chinatown, Downsview, and Willowdale equally well, and we hold the same standard of care at every location.

Common Questions About Prescription Lenses
How quickly can I get my prescription lenses?
For most in-stock prescriptions, your glasses are ready within the hour through our in-house lab at Spadina, Wilson Ave. For specialty lenses or less common prescriptions, we’ll place your order promptly and follow up personally with an accurate turnaround.
What coatings are included with my lenses?
Most of our lenses come standard with anti-reflective and anti-scratch coatings — we don’t strip those out as a cost-cutting measure. Additional treatments including blue light filtering, photochromic tinting, UV protection, and polarization are available as upgrades your optician can advise on based on your lifestyle.
Do I need a current prescription to order lenses?
We recommend a prescription no older than one to two years for the most accurate results. If you’re due for an eye exam, we offer comprehensive exams for adults and children at all two Toronto locations — our doctors can examine you and fit your new lenses in the same visit.
What's the difference between progressive and bifocal lenses?
Bifocals have a visible dividing line between near and distance zones, which many patients find distracting. Progressive lenses deliver the same dual correction through a seamless gradient — no line, no abrupt visual shift. Most patients adapt within a few days, and our opticians are experienced at guiding first-time progressive wearers through the process.
Are high-index lenses worth upgrading to?
If your prescription is -3.00 or stronger, or if you have significant astigmatism, the difference is likely noticeable — substantially thinner, lighter, and better-looking in a wider range of frames. Your optician can assess your prescription and advise honestly on whether the upgrade will make a visible difference for you specifically.
Does insurance cover prescription lenses?
Yes — prescription lenses are covered under most Canadian group vision plans, often alongside a frame allowance. We direct bill 25+ major Canadian insurers at all two Toronto locations. Bring your insurance card to your appointment and our front desk will confirm your coverage before anything is ordered.
Can I get lenses fitted to frames I already own?
In most cases, yes — provided the existing frames are in good condition and structurally sound. Bring them in to any of our three locations and our opticians will assess whether they can accommodate new lenses. We’ll always give you an honest assessment before proceeding.
